Submit Your Story

Sharing your experiences through storytelling is empowering. Nurses’ stories are especially powerful because they are informative, inspirational, and healing. The reality nurses face today, makes storytelling even more important to the profession and the future of nursing.

Remember, pictures and video help make a more genuine connection with readers, so before you hit send make sure you include your picture in the submission form below. Even better, capture your story on video and then submit via the submission form below. All stories should be written in the submission form. Unfortunately, we cannot publish links to news articles in the Year of Stories section on this site.

SHARING NURSES’ VOICES

Sharing your story is a way for you and ANA to showcase authentic nursing experiences and share inspirational moments. We encourage you and your family and friends to share stories about:

  • What personal anecdote can you share about how a patient was positively impacted by the extraordinary care you provided?
  • What nurse has inspired you the most to continue making an impact despite ongoing challenges in the profession?
  • How has patient care at your facility improved for the better under your diligence and leadership?
  • What continues to motivate you as a nurse?
  • Have you experienced any significant professional growth over the past year?
  • How is diversity playing a pivotal role at your health system or organization?
  • What is the one bright spot in your workday as a nurse that drives positivity despite the daily stresses of work?
  • How does a sustainable support system work effectively for your nurse team in the current climate?

How to Create Your Video

  • Video Specs: Digital stories are usually short with the recommended length of two minutes. Make sure you record in high-definition video (1920 x 1080); if you use an HD camera set the video to shoot at 1080p.
  • Delivery: Speak clearly, in a strong and confident voice and make good eye contact with the camera.
  • Filming: Do a test video to ensure adequate lighting. Use a tripod or make sure the camera operator maintains a still position.
  • Saving your video: Save your video file as an .MP4, .MPEG, .AVI or .MOV file.
